TERMINOLOGY

Please use the following language to describe your award or grant.

AAUW American Fellowship: AAUW’s largest funding program began in 1888, making it one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious fellowship programs exclusively for women. This fellowship supports women scholars who are completing doctoral dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research, or finishing research for publication.

AAUW International Fellowship: AAUW International Fellows are selected for their academic achievement, scholarly promise and demonstrated commitment to women and girls. Thousands of AAUW International Fellows have returned to their home countries to become leaders in government, academia, community activism, business and science.

AAUW Selected Professionals Fellowship: Selected Professions Fellowships support women pursuing full-time study in designated fields with historically low female participation at accredited U.S. institutions. Fellowships are awarded for master’s programs in architecture, computer/information sciences, engineering, and mathematics/statistics.

AAUW International Project Grant: To support the continuation of fellows’ work after they return home, AAUW awards International Project Grants to former AAUW International Fellows. These grants provide support for community-based projects that benefit women and girls in the fellow’s home country.

Career Development Grant: Career Development Grants support the career progression of women by funding women preparing to advance, change careers or re-enter the workforce. Primary consideration is given to women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in education, health and medicine, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and social sciences.

Community Action Grant: Community Action Grants provide funding to AAUW branches and state organizations, and local, community-based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs that promote education and equality for women and girls. Special consideration is given to projects that focus on girls’ and young women’s achievement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
