AAUW’s publications put timely and relevant information at your fingertips — information that centers on our core mission: advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.

AAUW General

  • Annual Reports 
  • Charter and Bylaws (members only) - Charter and bylaws for both the AAUW Association and AAUW Educational Foundation as updated in 2007.
  • Corporate Overview - A brief description of AAUW, including our mission, history, descriptions of the three corporations, tax status, governance, and leadership.
  • Historic Principles 1881-2007 - Distilled policies provide the means for the continuing evolution and focusing of AAUW’s position. 
  • AAUW Membership Brochure - Information about AAUW and a join form for people interested in becoming members of AAUW.

Educational Foundation

Magazines and Newsletters

  • AAUW Outlook – An award-winning magazine that offers the information today’s women seek. The magazine includes articles and interviews focusing on education and equity for women and girls, book reviews and excerpts, in-depth profiles on outstanding women, community action projects, and legislative updates.
  • Convention Today – Daily newsletters from the AAUW National Convention.
  • EdEqChange –  Bi-weekly memo to member leaders to facilitate discussion and collaboration in furthering and refining our strategic dialogue.
  • Fund Facts - A quarterly newsletter to keep AAUW officers informed of the latest programs as well as fun fundraising ideas they can use in their branch or state.
  • LAF Update – A newsletter providing updates on cases adopted by the Legal Advocacy Fund.
  • LAF Express – A periodic e-newsletter providing updates on recent activities, deadlines, and programming resources of the Legal Advocacy Fund.
  • Membership Matters - An e-newsletter sent approximately six times a year to AAUW state and branch membership officers.  Access editions since July 2005.
  • Mission & Action – A periodic e-bulletin conveying information on today's hot issues; opportunities to speak out online and through local branches; and updates on the work of AAUW, the Education Foundational and the Legal Advocacy Fund nationwide.
  • Students Speak Out – An electronic newsletter written by students for students, focusing on current topics in women's studies and on campus and providing updates on events and opportunities at AAUW.

Public Policy

  • Fact Sheets and Position Papers – Details of AAUW’s positions on current federal policy issues and the facts that support AAUW’s advocacy.
  • Action Network - Free to anyone who has an e-mail address, wants to know what’s going on in Washington, and needs a simple and easy way to take action to affect the outcome on issues they care about.
  • Capitol Hill Lobby Corps Briefings (members only) - Each briefing focuses on a particular piece of legislation that the AAUW Lobby Corps will be lobbying for that week on Capitol Hill.  The briefing includes information like the legislation background, what the bill would accomplish, talking points, and the status of the bill. 
  • Congressional Voting Record - AAUW has produced a Congressional voting record for every Congress since 1982, detailing how senators and representatives have voted on AAUW's federal legislative priorities such as education, reproductive rights, and civil rights.
  • Legislative Agenda for the 110th Congress - The agenda includes supporting pieces of legislation in three main areas: expanding educational opportunities for women and girls, promoting women's economic security, and promoting and defending Civil Rights.
  • Public Policy Brochure - Discusses the AAUW Public Policy Program for 2007-2009 including the principles for action and biennal action priorities.
  • Public Policy Program – AAUW principles for action and biennial action priorities.
  • Washington Update – A weekly bulletin for AAUW public policy chairs offering an insider's view on the public policy process.
  • Woman-to-Woman Voter Turnout Manual - The 2nd edition covers topics like voter turnout techniques, recruiting volunteers, building coalitions, and registering voters.

Research by the Educational Foundation – A library of groundbreaking reports on the challenges, opportunities, and well-being of women and girls.

Recent reports

  • Behind the Pay Gap – Just one year out of college, women working full time already earn less than their male colleagues, even when they work in the same field. Ten years after graduation, the pay gap widens.
  • Drawing the Line: Sexual Harassment on Campus – Nearly two-thirds of college students experience sexual harassment at some point during college, including nearly one-third of first year students. Drawing the Line describes the findings from a nationally representative survey of undergraduate college students conducted in the spring of 2005.
  • Tenure Denied: Cases of Sex Discrimination in Academia – Examines sex discrimination cases that were supported by the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund during the past 20 years.

  • Community Coalitions Manual – A how-to guide that helps local groups establish and sustain effective coalition-based programs. Includes contact information for more than 200 organizations.
  • Harassment-Free Hallways: How to Stop Sexual Harassment in Schools – An informative, concise, and action-oriented resource to help students, educators, and parents foster harassment-free schools.
  • Signposts – A pamphlet providing a road map to becoming a gender-fair school.
  • Tech Check – A guide to help schools assess the technology opportunities they offer female students.
  • Women at Work Action GuideA how-to guide that helps local groups take action on the the issues raised in the Women at Work research report. This PDF version is available to members only.
