Support the Conference

Support the 2010 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders to ensure that women can attend a conference that encourages them to be successful leaders and gives them the skills to do so. Make the 25th conference our best one yet!

Students in a 2008 NCCWSL workshop

Your support enables the AAUW community to present outstanding student leader conferences. In 2009, more than 400 women from 44 states, the District of Columbia, Jamaica, and Tibet attended NCCWSL. Many students attended through scholarships that you — AAUW's members, branches, and states — funded. Nearly 70 additional students received scholarships from the generous gifts you made to the NCCWSL Scholarship Fund.

In 2010 we expect even more women to attend the conference. To make the 25th NCCWSL a success and to ensure that limited financial means are not a barrier to women who want to develop their leadership potential, your support is needed more than ever this year.

For detailed information that explains how you can support the 2010 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders, either as an individual AAUW member or with your branch and state, read the NCCWSL Program in a Box.

In brief, here are three great ways that you, branches, and states can support women student leaders and this unique, leadership-building conference:

  1. Pay the registration fee and help with transportation expenses for a college student from your community to attend the conference. Many individual members, branches, and states allocate funds to provide local scholarships; you may want to consider allocating funds to send a student from your community to the conference. When the students you are sponsoring register online, they should indicate that their payment will be made by check. You can then mail in a check made payable to AAUW – NCCWSL Registration and identify the names of these students you are supporting. Please remember that, because you are paying a fee for a specific individual, this payment is not tax deductible.
  1. Make a tax-deductible gift to National Conference for College Women Student Leaders Fund. Make checks payable to AAUW Funds – NCCWSL. In the memo section, please write Fund 2505. By donating to this fund, you ensure a high-quality conference for every attendee, and your gift is fully tax deductible.
  1. Make a tax-deductible gift to the NCCWSL Scholarship Fund. Make checks payable to AAUW Funds – NCCWSL Scholarships. In the memo section, please write Fund 2504. Of course, your gift is fully tax deductible. The Scholarship Committee uses this money to provide scholarships to as many deserving women as possible. Preference is given to women who have financial need. Women who want to be leaders should not be left out of this important conference because they cannot afford to attend.
