The timeline is as follows:
- May 15 – Deadline for submissions of recommendation sheet(s) for consideration
- June 15 – ¡Adelante! Book of the Month Club list posted
Criteria for selection of books
Books included on the reading list will:
- reinforce AAUW’s mission of diversity
- be fiction or non-fiction
- be positively reviewed
- be in print
- include books written for adults, young adults and/or children
- be reflective of but not limited to populations including new and non-readers, people with disabilities, rural and urban poor/homeless people, immigrants, incarcerated people/ex-offenders, and people generally discriminated against based on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, language and social class
- reflect the theme for a particular month if that is appropriate. There are 12 selections included on the ¡Adelante! list
NOTE:
- Members/branch book clubs will be noted on the AAUW website when their suggestion becomes part of the list.
