In Recognition of Equal Pay Day (April 22, 2008), branches and state chapters set out to bring attention to the issue of Pay Equity.

In Delaware, Dr. Maisha Britt, AAUW Delaware State President (left) and Dr. Kathleen Jacobs, AAUW Delaware State EF Chair (right) met with Governor Ruth Ann Minner at a signing of an Equal Pay Day Proclamation. The Proclamation references the AAUW report, Behind the Pay Gap.

At the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, The Campus action project spent time spreading messages across campus about the wage discrepancy in Alaska.
UAF also hosted Martha West, an expert on gender discrimination law to give a lecture to the community.
The News Miner, the local paper highlights the groups success.

In Murfreesboro, TN, Dr. Ayne Cantrell (President of Murfreesboro Branch of AAUW and Professor Emeritus, MTSU) will discuss the findings about the pay gap between men and women.
Jan Leone, AAUW member, gave out information about the pay gap: book marks, flyers about legislation and AAUW's Action Network and also PayDay candy bars and packs of Equal sweetner, pen's, and red buttons with white lettering with "77 cents--Ask me about it"

In Chicago, Gov. Rod Blagojevich proclaims Equal Pay Day in Illinois. Blagojevich raises awareness on wage gap between men and women and highlights state’s efforts to protect Illinois workers from wage discrimination in the workplace.



At an Equal Pay Day Rally in Colorado, members from across the Denver metropolitan area met with state senators in support of the Wage Transparency Act.

AARP's e-newsletter, Women's Leadership Circle SmartBrief, referenced AAUW's work on Pay Equity.

At their May 13th meeting, the St. Cloud Area Branch of AAUW presented a Pay Equity Award to an employee who was nominated for leadership in closing the pay gap for working women.

Many NYS branches held Equal Pay Day Events. We collected signatures on petition to urge the NYS Senate to pass the NYS Fair Pay Bill. 18 branches have collected over 1475 signatures - with more yet to come. State and local leaders also participated in Gloria Steinem Day for Equal Pay in Albany.
The Alfred/Hornell branch debuted a film produced by Alfred University as part of an AAUW CAP Grant.
