Color
Ads, whether in four-color or black and white, are priced the same.
Payment
Payment must be made by check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard, VISA or American Express only). An invoice will be issued for payment. Advertisers receive a copy of each issue of AAUW Outlook in which their ad appears.
Discounts
Ad rates are listed as gross rates. AAUW offers a 15 percent discount to recognized advertising agencies, nonprofit associations, educational institutions, and AAUW members placing ads individually.
Classifieds
Classified ads run in the marketplace section in the back of the magazine. AAUW charges $2 per word, with a 25-word minimum and a 75-word maximum. No frequency discounts are available for classified ads. For an additional $1 per word, classifieds may also run concurrently on AAUW’s website, www.aauw.org, for three months. Classified ads with more than 75 words must use a 1/12-page ad rate or larger.
Submission Guidelines
Ads not submitted according to the guidelines below will be returned and must be resubmitted, which may result in missing a print deadline.
Ads must be submitted electronically and include these four items:
- Original page file (the page file in which the ad was created with all its layers) — This allows AAUW to make minor changes if necessary, such as adjusting the size of the ad to exact specifications needed on a given page, without the advertiser having to resubmit the ad and possibly miss a print deadline.
- Screen and printer fonts (type used to create the ad) — Use POSTSCRIPT fonts only. DO NOT USE True Type fonts or System fonts.
- Images (including photos and logos)
- Hard copy or PDF — Submit by mail or e-mail (not fax) the entire ad with true color so AAUW can ensure the ad is printed exactly to your specifications.
Files accepted
- High Resolution 300dpi JPEG (uncompressed maximum quality)
- Mac or IBM TIFF
- EPS with all fonts converted to outlines
- Print ready (Press ready) PDF file format with all fonts and images embedded
- Illustrator 10 or older (with all fonts converted to outlines and all images embedded
- QuarkXPress 6.5 or older (all fonts and images must be included)
Files can be stuffed or zipped and emailed or sent on CD.
All images should be converted to CMYK and must be 300 dpi or greater.
Color
Colors must be CYMK.
