Foundation President Position Description

The general responsibilities of all members of the AAUW Educational Foundation Board of Directors are detailed in the basic Board job description.

The Foundation president assumes the following roles in accomplishing those responsibilities

  • Facilitating the goal setting, development of priorities and strategic plans.
  • Facilitating the development of a budget that responds to the goals, priorities and plans and approval of the budget.
  • Participating in the Leader to Leader program.
  • Working with Board and staff on goals for involvement of AAUW members in the Foundation programs and development activities.
  • Working with the Association leadership to coordinate and mutually support common goals.

The Foundation president has the following additional responsibilities

  • Presides at meetings.
  • Calls special meetings of the Board and the Executive Committee as provided in the Bylaws.
  • Executes, with the secretary of the corporation, all legal documents of the Foundation;
  • Advises the executive director.
  • Represents the Foundation publicly.
  • Serves as an adviser of the Fellowships Fund.
  • Makes a biennial report of Foundation activities to the Association convention.
  • Prepares a written report for the annual meeting of the Foundation.
  • Serves ex officio on all Foundation committees.
  • Appoints the chairs and members of special committees of the Foundation.
  • Serves on the Association Board of Directors.
  • Makes an annual report to the Association Board of Directors.
  • Takes responsibility for the administration of the Foundation as directed by the Board of Directors or as prescribed by the Bylaws.
