Development Vice President Position Description

The general responsibilities of all members of the AAUW Educational Foundation Board of Directors are detailed in the basic Board job description. The development vice president should have development experience such as cultivation and solicitation, project research or administration, either professional or as a volunteer.

The Foundation development vice president has the following additional responsibilities

  • Serves as chair of the Development Committee.
  • Consults and works with the program vice president in order to insure mutually supportive goals and activities.
  • Plans, with the Development Committee and staff, the ongoing efforts in fundraising for the Foundation by members, branches and states.
  • Plans, with the Development Committee and staff, strategies for fund development, potential sources of funding, and guidelines and criteria for fundraising recognition and incentives.
  • Plans, with the program vice president and staff, leadership development for state Educational Foundation chairs.
  • Communicates with state and branch Educational Foundation chairs by utilization of the various periodicals and printed materials, and personally as the need arises.
  • Participates with staff on the development of Foundation development materials.
  • Plans the Foundation related activities for the biennial Association convention with the programs vice president, the committee members and staff.
  • Prepares a written report for the annual meeting of the Foundation.
