TENURE-TRACK FACULTY - Penn Genome Frontiers Professor
The Penn Genome Frontiers Institute and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track within one of the Medical School basic science departments. The ideal candidate would be performing multidisciplinary research using cutting-edge methods to study genomic-scale biological problems. Techniques of interest include live-cell and single-cell genomics, molecular and cellular imaging, and nanotechnology. Research programs at the frontiers of all areas of biomedical sciences are encouraged.

Position Summary: Kenan-Flagler Business School is seeking a Managing Director of UNC’s Center for International Business Education Research (“CIBER”). This position is responsible for all aspects of CIBER administration, including chairing the UNC CIBER Operations Committee and directing the budgeting, tracking, and reporting of all CIBER activities. The UNC CIBER is one of thirty-one schools currently chosen by the United States Department of Education as part of Title VI. The collective CIBER mission is to increase international awareness and effectiveness among target populations including students, faculty, and the community at large. CIBERs are expected to enhance competence in the global work place through a broad range of interdisciplinary initiatives in the area of research, course development and enhancement, and outreach events. Under the broader CIBER mission, the UNC CIBER has committed in the 2006 – 2010 grant cycle to "shape global business leaders." Through about 30 activities per year, the UNC CIBER works to:
- Prepare students for global business leadership through experiential education;
- Equip educators to better incorporate global business concepts and experiences into their teaching and research; and
- Infuse companies and communities with strategies and processes to enhance their global competitiveness.
The Managing Director is the primary contact person for the business school and other university leaders of the more than15 activities for which the CIBER annually provides monetary and/or administrative, marketing, and reporting assistance. In addition, the Managing Director has full programmatic responsibility for 3 of the 5 UNC CIBER programs initiated and directed from the CIBER office: the Global Business Preparatory Program for North Carolina High School students; the 2009 Target Markets Faculty Development in International Business (“FDIB”) program; and the 2010 National Forum on Trade Policy. The Managing Director also serves as a member of the planning committee for the Global Business Project Consortium, led by the UNC CIBER director as a part of Student Teams Achieving Results (“STAR”), the 4th major CIBER program. The Managing Director serves as primary marketer for the Working Languages series, the 5th program administered by the UNC CIBER.
The Managing Director reports to the UNC CIBER director. All of the Managing Director's responsibilities are conducted with independent management authority and require discretion in dealing with the broad and varied CIBER constituencies. This position supervises three full-time CIBER personnel: the Working Languages Director, the Administrative Manager, and a program assistant. The Managing Director is given full authority to act on behalf of the director in his/her absence.
Education Requirements: A graduate degree is required, in the area of international relations, business, adult education, or related fields.
Qualifications and Experience: The Managing Director must have a minimum of 5 years work experience involving all aspects of program management, including program design, marketing and promotion, financial management, and evaluation. Priority is given to applicants who have run programs with international partners that involve international travel by program coordinators and participants. Some domestic and international travel is necessary. Second language proficiency is preferred.

Position Summary

Qualifications and Experience

Critical skills include the ability to build internal and external relationships with broad constituencies, a demonstrated commitment to customer service, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Pre-existing relationships with multiple companies is helpful. The candidate must have strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills, and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population of high-performing individuals.
